A typical afternoon at home

Here's A, all dressed up as a ballerina (not her official dancing school outfit, but a dress-up costume), twirling around the sun-drenched family room while dancing to the movie, "The Wizard of Oz." She has just started watching "scary" kids' movies, and I do have to fast forward through some parts, like the wicked witch's castle with those evil flying monkeys. A is spending more and more of her time in a world of pretend, although she still seems most comfortable with concrete tasks with predictable outcomes. We are really encouraging the fantasy play for A, first since it challenges her perfectionist nature, and second because we know it is anyway a very fleeting phase of childhood.
