We go to the Children's Museum once a week (we have an annual membership). It is mostly geared toward preschool and early elementary children, but there are a few areas reserved for older kids. One of them is the music studio, which has REAL instruments, and is only accessible by reservation and with staff supervision. Often times it is closed, or when open, the reservation list has an hours long wait. The last time we visited it was open, and we signed up as soon as we arrived, then explored the other exhibits until our turn came. The girls were so excited to try the instruments, although K could barely hold the guitar (it was real, full size, and heavy), let alone get her fingers in proper position. I don't foresee any garage bands in our future (thankfully), but it's always fun to try new things and dream.
