Big payout from the Tooth Fairy
A's extractions went well. She was very brave and although hooked up to nitrous, she didn't sleep and certainly wasn't knocked out. The dentist and her assistants explained everything they were doing, which would have scared me to death if I were A. Two of the teeth still had long roots firmly planted in the jaw. I was stunned at the length of those and the holes left behind. Amazingly, within 48 hours the gums had healed and there was hardly any evidence of the extractions. A did not take any pain medication and had no complaints, other than being restricted to a soft diet for a day. She actually got tired of ice cream and pudding and was asking for carrot sticks! The tooth fairy brought her a gold sacajawea dollar coin, 4 hand puppets (one for each tooth), and a strawberry shortcake scented pony. A was very excited to utilize her special tooth fairy pillow, lovingly stitched by her aunt Barbara.
