Mother Coyote was hiding in the bushes to the right. This was taken with a very long lens -- I would never approach these pups because I want them to remain wild and fearful of humans. In fact, after I took the shot I made a lot of noise to scare them back into the woods. Sounds cruel, but... in our area the Fish & Wildlife officers have been shooting coyotes on sight this spring because people have complained that their pets are being killed and the coyotes (normally shy and reclusive) are a danger to their children. My opinion is that they were here first and we should leave them alone. I wonder if these pups will make it to adulthood, or if they will be shot within the next few weeks. Man is so selfish.
