Camping in the Washington State San Juan Islands

We spent a few days camping on Lopez Island, near the Canadian border. The weather was spectacular and the girls did pretty well sleeping in the tent and not having TV for 4 days. We spent most of our time at the beach, building sand castles, exploring tide pools, crafting forts out of drift wood, and roasting wieners and marshmallows over a campfire. At camp we ran in the grassy field, playing hay-bale tag (as the hay bales were still there from last week's haying). We also played board games and card games, did a little reading and story telling, and enjoyed the sounds of nature all around (especially the bald eagles, fawns, bunnies, and even the snake). A lovely holiday!
